Course Overview
The Focus Awards Level 4 Diploma in Adult Care (RQF) is aimed at learners working in a variety of senior adult care roles within but not limited to residential care, domiciliary care or day centres in a senior role.
Those working towards achieving a Level 4 Diploma in Adult Care will have, and develop further, specialist skills and knowledge in their area of responsibility which enables them to lead in areas such as assessment or enablement, for instance. Learners will have responsibility for assessing
performance and quality of care delivery. Their team members will look to them for inspiration, and they will provide coaching and mentoring to their colleagues.
Learners could work in a variety of settings in adult social care, including but not limited to residential care, domiciliary care or day centres. The qualification would also be suitable for Lead Personal Assistants who work as part of a Personal Assistant team at a senior level.
What You’ll Learn
You will be undertaking the following mandatory units with a few optional units:
Lead communication in adult care settings
Develop, maintain and use records and reports
Personal development in adult care settings
Lead inclusive practice in adult care settings
Lead health and safety in adult care settings
Facilitate person centred assessment to support well being
Facilitate support planning to ensure positive outcomes for individuals and to support well being
Professional practice in adult care settings
Work in partnership in health and social care or children and young people’s settings
Understand personalisation in care and support services
Understand safeguarding and protection in adult care settings
Safeguard children and young people who are present in the adult care sector
Entry Requirements
Must be 19 and over before August.
Meet the required residency criteria to be eligible as;
- A UK ‘home’ Learner
- An EU Learner (Inc EEA Migrant Worker etc)
- A RoW Learner (Inc Indefinite Leave, Refugee etc)Learners must be resident in UK on the first day of the learning aim
- UK nationals must be resident in UK for 3 years prior to the start of their learning aim
- Learners who live in the rest of the UK can apply as long as they study at an approved Learning Provider in England
- EU nationals must be resident in EEA for 3 years prior to the start of their learning aim
- Rest of the World nationals must demonstrate ‘settled status’ with no limitation or restriction on the length of stay in UK
How you will be assessed
Your knowledge and understanding will be assessed using the assessment methods. Where possible your assessor will integrate knowledge outcomes into practical observations through oral questioning.
